Accessibility Statement
Draft, not in force. This document is still being prepared and has not been reviewed. It does not govern anything. The version and date above are provisional.
We want NovaZero to work for everyone who trains, including people who use VoiceOver, larger text, or other assistive technology. This statement says what we aim for, what we tested, where we fall short today, and when each gap gets fixed. We would rather tell you where we are than claim a standard we have not met.
1 · Our commitment
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA: for the NovaZero app, as those guidelines apply to mobile apps, and for our website, novazero.app. For the app we also follow Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for accessibility.
2 · Current conformance status
The NovaZero app and novazero.app are both partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means some parts do not yet meet the standard. The gaps we know about are listed in Section 4.
This is a self-evaluation. On 5 October 2026 we tested the app on an iPhone simulator with the largest text size and Increase Contrast, reviewed every screen behind nine common tasks for what VoiceOver says, which colours carry meaning, colour contrast, motion and other display settings, and tested every page of novazero.app with an automated checker, contrast measurements and a keyboard alone. It has not been verified by an independent third party. We intend to commission one; Section 5 gives the date.
3 · What already works
In the app
- Contrast for most text. Body text and grey secondary text meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio on every background, in light and dark appearance. Words in your accent colour meet it on cards for all 14 accent colours. Warnings, errors and "done" words in yellow and green meet it too, including the pain warning and the line about AI Import sending your input to Google.
- Higher contrast. Turn on Higher contrast in Settings ▸ Appearance, or Increase Contrast in your iPhone's settings, and NovaZero's grey words go darker, the edges of text boxes, chips and cards get clear outlines, last time's numbers in an empty set are drawn in a grey that meets the contrast ratio, and small words on buttons, chips and the selected tab meet it in every accent colour. Either setting is enough, and the app changes the moment you change it. The same screen shows which of your iPhone's accessibility settings NovaZero follows, and whether each is on.
- Reduce Motion. With it on, the workout logger fades in and out instead of zooming, onboarding's pages fade instead of sliding, and the app tour moves between screens without scrolling or sliding. Home's daily fill-up, the goal-reached glow, the pulsing button on Home, the minimised workout bar, the opening screen and the workout generator hold still or fade.
- VoiceOver reads these well: confirmation dialogs, the information buttons, the offline notice, the sign-in fields, the workout card on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, the reasons on a report, the effort picker, onboarding choices, data export, the legal document rows and the sign-up consent boxes, each read with its sentence and whether it is checked. On the NovaZero Pro screen, the chosen plan is read as selected. Number boxes on goals, phases and daily food goals, and AI Import's paste box and match marks, are read by name. Chips, tabs, rest times and other choices say which one is chosen, and a folded exercise and the check-in card are read as buttons. Section titles are headings, so VoiceOver's headings list jumps through Settings, the Terms and the Privacy Policy. A friend's banner is read out as it arrives and stays on screen until you open it or close it. When you log a set, each box says which set it belongs to and reads as empty until you type, with last time's number offered as a hint, and the button that logs a set says which set it logs. Error messages are read out the moment they appear, after a failed sign-in, purchase, import, report, export, send or delete. Every sheet in the common tasks closes with a labelled button. A stat is read as one line ("Volume, 12,400 pounds"), a calendar day says its date and what happened on it, a set's type is said as a word ("Warm-up"), the rest timer's buttons say "Add 15 seconds" and "Skip rest", a loading spinner says what it is waiting for, and a set or a row you could only swipe away can be deleted from VoiceOver's actions. The app tour is read as a pop-up, the Lock Screen card's ring is read as one line, and pictures that only decorate are skipped.
- Smart Invert. Photos, maps and the app's illustrations keep their real colours when Smart Invert is on.
- Show Borders (called Button Shapes before iOS 26). With it on in your iPhone's settings, every button that is only words, such as "Sign out", "Try again" or "Retry", is underlined, so it can be told apart from plain text. Settings ▸ Appearance shows whether it is on.
- Not colour alone for the things you need to log a workout: a done set is a filled check, an open set an empty ring; errors are written out; a chosen option is a filled pill.
- Differentiate Without Color. With it on in your iPhone's settings, the places that otherwise show meaning by colour alone gain a shape or a word: a finished exercise and the meal answer you chose wear a check, a day trained off your plan an asterisk, a planned day on the calendar a ring instead of cardio's dot, and recovery's arrows say "better" or "worse". VoiceOver reads those words whether the setting is on or not. Settings ▸ Appearance shows whether it is on.
- Dark and light appearance are both fully supported, with a choice of accent colours, and the app follows your system setting by default. The screens before you sign in and the setup questions are always shown in the light appearance.
- No time limits. Nothing in NovaZero expires or makes you finish within a fixed time, apart from rest timers you start yourself, which can be skipped or extended.
- Charts describe themselves to VoiceOver. Each one gives a summary of what it shows (how many points, over what dates, the lowest, the highest and the latest), each point can be read by swiping, and VoiceOver's Audio Graph plays the line as rising and falling pitch. The small trend lines beside a lift's name are hidden from VoiceOver, because the words beside them say the same thing.
On novazero.app
- Every page has its language set and its own title, landmarks, a link to skip to the content, and one main heading with the rest in order.
- Text meets the contrast ratio on both themes, including the "Skip to content" link and the small blue labels, and the outline that shows where the keyboard is meets it too.
- The keyboard reaches every link, including the menu's links on a phone, and the page scrolls so the link you are on is never hidden under the header. Links look like links, including the link to account deletion on Support, which is also in every page's footer.
- Each policy has a contents list, and its topics ("Location.", "Apple Health data.") are headings you can jump between. Addresses keep their lines, and a long web address wraps on a phone.
- You can zoom, and nothing is cut off on a phone-sized screen apart from one long link on the Terms page.
- The launch email box has a label on screen, a clear outline, and errors that meet the contrast ratio and are read out with the box. Without JavaScript it shows an email address to write to instead, and sends nothing.
- Animations stop when your device asks for reduced motion. Nothing opens in a new tab.
- Text grows with your browser's text size setting. The menu says which page you are on, decorative pictures are skipped, "Saving…" is read out when you join the launch list, and the menu button stays visible in Windows high contrast mode.
4 · Known limitations
We know about the following, and each one is on our work list with a date in Section 5. This list is not a disclaimer.
In the app
Text size.
The app does not yet follow your text size setting. At larger sizes, almost all of its text stays the same size. This is the biggest gap.
Pale words in the standard look.
Last time's numbers in an empty set, small words on some accent colours, and the chosen effort "Hard" fall below the contrast ratio. With Higher contrast or Increase Contrast on, they meet it.
Edges.
In the standard look, text boxes and chips have faint edges; Higher contrast or Increase Contrast gives them clear outlines.
Not yet tested on a device with VoiceOver, Voice Control, Switch Control or Braille displays. The Lock Screen card limits its text to a set maximum size.
5 · What we are doing about it
- novazero.app: the launch email form comes off the site before NovaZero goes on sale.
- Text size: the whole app follows your text size setting, with every screen holding its layout at the largest sizes. Target January 2027.
- The rest of the app: a non-colour cue everywhere colour carries meaning. Target February 2027.
- Testing on a device with VoiceOver, Voice Control and Switch Control, and the Apple Watch app once it is released. Target February 2027.
- An independent third-party accessibility audit, after which we will publish an updated statement and a conformance report. Target July 2027.
We will update this statement as each item lands, rather than waiting until everything is done.
6 · Tell us where we have got it wrong
If you hit a barrier in NovaZero or on novazero.app, please tell us. Reports from people using assistive technology are more useful to us than any audit.
Email accessibility@novazero.app, and tell us what you were trying to do, which screen or page you were on, and what assistive technology and iOS or browser version you were using.
We aim to acknowledge every report within 2 business days and to tell you what we are going to do about it within 10 business days. If something we have built is stopping you from using the app, say so plainly and we will treat it as urgent.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to Blue Window LLC at 212 N. 2nd St., Suite 100, Richmond, KY 40475, United States.
7 · Helpful iOS settings
NovaZero inherits these system-wide iOS features, which you may find useful: VoiceOver, Zoom, Larger Text, Bold Text, Increase Contrast, Reduce Motion, Show Borders, Reduce Transparency, Color Filters, Speak Screen, Voice Control, and Switch Control. They live in Settings ▸ Accessibility on your iPhone.
8 · Scope, standards and formal details
This statement applies to the NovaZero iOS app, its workout card on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, and the website novazero.app. The Apple Watch app is not yet available; it will be added once it is released and tested.
Standards referenced.
WCAG 2.2 Level AA; Apple Human Interface Guidelines (Accessibility); Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, as a reference standard.
Preparation.
This statement was prepared on 5 October 2026 from a self-evaluation: testing on an iPhone simulator and on the live website, and a review of the app's and the website's code. It will be reviewed again by 5 April 2027, or sooner if a significant change ships.
